Release notes Olive 4/4HD and Olive 2
Olive 4 and 2 were formerly named Opus 4 and Melody 2.
Changes in software version O.4.1.2 and M.4.1.2, released 04/07/10
New Features
- New Artwork Screen with alphabetic search by artist, album, composer or work
- New backup, restore, update notification screen
- New ripping, encoding and burning notification screen (to be found under SYSTEM SERVICES > SYSTEMS SERVICES)
- Selecting the network icon will now bring up the network information screen if you are already connected to a network
- Error logging feature allows users to create an error log for better support.
- Network wizard shows more detailed error messages if device cannot log into network.
Improvements and bug fixes
- CD burning speed has been reduced to 12X to allow burning with sub-optimal CD-R media.
- Pausing playback now can be activated from anywhere within the menu (except while browsing none olive external sources)
- Internet radio shows no longer old metadata when new station is selected
- Holding down rewind button will not make the countdown timer go past its starting point.
- Deleting a playlist won't stop playback any more
- Playlist shows more than 64 items.
- CD ejects consistently after ripping is complete.
- Playback in shuffle mode does not stop after 2 or 3 songs.
- HD music issues resolved:
- Intermittent audio skips with some sampling rates has been resolved (e.g. Hyperion tracks).
- HD tracks and regular tracks in the same playlist do not cause distortion any more.
- Burning 24bit WAV tracks to standard audio CD is now possible.
- The search button on the Olive 4HD remote control now works properly
- External Media Server:
- The unit is now fully compatible with Windows Media Player over UPNP
- The unit is now compatible with Twonky version 4+ over UPNP
- Intermittent hard drive spin up in sleep mode has been resolved.
- Taking a unit out of deep sleep mode takes a long time: New behavior will turn on LCD first while continuing with drive spin up.
- HDMI is now turned off when system enters power save/sleep.
- Removed Infrared code pages to reduce interference with other remote controls.
Known bugs
- Search result won't show more than 64 items (resumes at 64th item of the current search container).
- Keyboard input exceeds the screen after a certain length is reached.
- Burning a playlist while a track is played from it will not work.

New Features
- Redesigned popup-menu for the play screen with the ability to burn/delete a complete album and create a new playlist
- Redesigned popup-menu for when a CD is inserted with the option to eject the CD
- The Olive 4 can now be accessed with iTunes (note: FLAC is not supported by iTunes)
- MAESTRO Software
- An alphabet jump for the artwork view is now available
- Possibility to change the artwork within the edit section within the tab “Recording”
- Tracks are accessible and editable within their own list
- A search has been implemented for artists, albums, tracks and playlists
- The order of tracks within a playlist can be changed
- Songs can be deleted from a playlist

- Enhanced internet radio playback of stations with weaker connection
- Autoeject of CDs after ripping/burning

- The detailed information in the playscreen has increased in length and has been altered to accommodate for Twonky

Improvements and bug fixes
- Improved burning process of HD Tracks (note: 24bit WAV Files are not supported yet)
- Enhanced music playback of HD Tracks (Hyperion)
- Metadata of mp3 tracks ripped with iTunes is imported to the Olive
- Shuffle algorithm changed in order to prevent the playback from stopping after a few songs
- HDMI video out on certain LCD and Plasma TVs should not tear or jitter any more

New Features
- Digital-in playback pauses local playback when selected and is resumed whenever user decides to disconnect digital-in source
- Analog volume level and mute setting is preserved when user switches from local to digital-in playback

- Genres will populate properly when you click on the genre menu item. This takes an additional ~2 seconds to load the top level of genres.

- In ALBUM COVER VIEW, the last album can now be selected for playback
- CD recognition and playback improved

New feature
- When importing classical FLAC music files from PC, the artist field is mapped to the composer lastname field, also the album title is mapped to the work title, to facilitate editing and to avoid long "unknown composer" and "unknown work" lists.

- Fixed compatibility issue related to maximum segment size transfer for D-Link (DI-655) wireless router.

- To avoid confusion internet radio is now only displayed if an internet connection is established
- To increase transparency a "Please wait" or loading status bar is displayed when the system is processing a command
- Several pop-up menus and entry masks have been redesigned for touchscreen functionalty
- After network setup is complete a new pop-up window displays all necessary status information
- The MAESTRO music management software has been completely redesigned to improve usability

- WEP and Enterprise modes are not supported yet
- Software update bar stops unfinished in some circumstances, although software update has been complete
- Backup & restore does not work with all USB hard drives
- Album Artwork fails to show up in rare instances
